The Acer Nitro XV273K might not manage to output 4K 144Hz with HDR, but it’s still an incredibly versatile monitor that deserves its own throne. Where the Predator X27 has double the luminance, the Nitro XV273K looks comparatively dimmer and is far less impressive to the naked eye.
What graphics card do I need for HDR and what PC games support it. The Acer Nitro XV273K gaming monitor was announced in 2018. Support RPS and get an ad-free site, extra articles, and free stuff! NO, I don't believe Variable Refresh Rate over HDMI is supported. Drivers & Manuals: Acer Answers: Get Product Information (only) Acer Support Videos: All … To be honest, though, until HDR stops being a royal pain in the ass, I’m really not that fussed about whether it’s there or not. On the downside, the Nitro XV273K doesn’t feature FALD like the Predator X27. The Acer Nitro XV273K makes a few compromises to get its price under $1,000. DisplayHDR 500, you see, requires a maximum black level of just 0.10cd/m2, which is probably why it doesn’t meet AMD’s FreeSync 2 HDR standard either. It's different from FreeSync in its implementation. To my eyes, my darker test images still looked deep and inky onscreen, and thanks to its good contrast ratio of 1042:1, there was plenty of shadow detail to be seen as well. To test the panel’s HDR performance I used a single DisplayPort 1.4 cable, ran the monitor at 120Hz 4K and enabled the HDR colour profile through the OSD. The XV273K costs £900.
The panel is still responsive, and despite losing a few extra frames, the panel is buttery smooth with the help of AMD FreeSync or Nvidia G-Sync (range is 48Hz-120Hz). All I want is a gorgeous looking panel with accurate, vibrant colours, and the XV273K has that in spades. There’s nothing quite like it. Hi will the XV273K support FreeSync over hdmi for the Xbox one x? In comparison to the XV273K, Acer's Predator XB273K has a G-Sync module installed; they're otherwise identical.
Both limit the panel’s overall brightness to around 200cd/m2 and 100cdm/2, respectively. That won’t be much use if you’re after something that can easily sit on a desk, of course, but it’s worth bearing in mind all the same. Assistance by Acer. With these settings, you also avoid 4:2:2 chroma subsampling and maintain the full RGB 4:4:4 format. The two built-in 4W speakers are sufficiently adequate for Windows notifications, but you’ll want headphones or external speakers for a decent gaming experience. At 4K 144Hz, this Acer monitor sits among the fastest Ultra HD panels I’ve tested: it has a responsive panel and a perceivably low input lag, especially when compared to the Predator X27, which I’d avoid for competitive gaming. Both of them can hit a eye-searing 1000cd/m2, for example, and have hundreds of individual backlights to facilitate it, too. Warzone weapon stats for Season 6 In truth, I was surprised when I saw this, as other DisplayHDR 400 monitors I’ve tested have all been a bit underwhelming in the colour accuracy department – mostly because the DisplayHDR 400 spec doesn’t actually require a screen to meet any kind of DCI-P3 figure whatsoever. For non-HDR, competitive games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, I switched to a dual DP 1.4 setup and ran the monitor at 144Hz. Design accommodates unconventional keyboard placements. Sure, no graphics card on the planet is capable of hitting 144fps on max settings at 4K right now, but by golly if it isn’t one of the most gorgeous gaming monitors I’ve ever clapped eyes on. The Acer Nitro XV273K, on the other hand, is a lot more modest in its HDR aspirations, as this one’s only certified to meet VESA’s entry-level HDR standard, DisplayHDR 400. Much like the Asus ROG Strix XG32VQR I tested recently, it’s still a pain in the ass to get working (mostly because of ongoing compatibility issues with Windows 10, but also because the XV273K’s myriad of colour modes and HDR colour options mean it doesn’t necessarily kick in automatically all the time unless you’ve enabled the correct half dozen options in the monitor’s onboard menu system), but once you finally wrangle it into submission it looks very pleasant.
Nvidia’s G-Sync Ultimate monitors may be some of the best gaming monitors I’ve ever laid eyes on, but good gravy do they cost an arm and a leg, with both Acer’s Predator X27 and Asus’ ROG Swift PG27UQ still going for around two grand a pop. Do you know the definition of a metroidvania? Cheaper than any other 4K 144Hz display. Best free PC games To access the OSD there’s a joystick and four buttons that reside around the back of the monitor. Former StarCraft 2 devs form new studio "to boldly advance the RTS genre". Of course, the game’s brightness slider can be put to the max, but this sacrifices colour accuracy. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons! It still costs at least half an arm and a leg, with current prices sitting around £795 / $900, but when the Nitro XV273K is this lovely, it’s definitely a lot easier to justify to yourself than plonking down two grand on something that, for all intents and purposes, looks pretty much identical during everyday use. To put Nvidia’s claims to the test, I used it with an Nvidia GTX 1080 and an AMD RX 590 graphics card, and with both cards the respective sync technologies ran flawlessly. The Acer Nitro XV273K is rather special, as it’s among the first twelve screens to pass Nvidia’s G-Sync certification. Acer Community User Agreement. ® © 2020. I've asked Acer to clarify if there are any added benefits in purchasing the XB273K over the XV273K. In this case, though, HDR probably isn’t going to be the main reason you might want to buy this monitor.
